چکیده

In the past decades, high-performance computing has played key role to advance the emerging technologies from social netorks, search engines, and cell phones to humanoid robotics. The ver-increasing growth of high-performance computing has continously brought more opportunities for system designers to revisit oth enterprise and end-user applications. The significant advanceent of high-performance computing is owed to many-core archiecture which has been the main focus of numerous academic and ndustrial research projects in the last years and it is expected to ontinue as a dominant research topic in the next decade. Despite significant studies in many-core architectures, further dvancement is prohibited by several important issues such as ower wall, reduced yield, memory wall, and design complexity. n particular, Future Many Core Systems (FMCSs) require more speialized architectures in order to further integrate the advantages f more than ten billions transistors available on-chip. In addition o such design challenges, with the paradigm shift in daily appliations used in Cloud and datacenters from E-commerce, On-Lineransactional Processing (OLTP), gaming, online storage, and Geomics to Big Data applications such as clustering and graph anlytics, FMCSs should be designed such that the new applications an benefit from emerging multi-core systems. To foster the research momentum on many-core architectures, lsevier Microprocessors and Microsystems has scheduled a special ssue on FMCS addressing both micro-architectural and systemevel issues. For this special issue, we have received 14 submissions rom nine countries, out of which seven submissions have been seected in the first round of review process. Finally, after detailed eview of the revised submissions, four papers have been accepted or publication in this issue. More than sixty reviewers, carefully elected among distinguished researchers from both industry and cademia, have helped us to evaluate manuscripts submitted for ublication in this special issue.

Design of a novel congestion-aware communication mechanism for wireless NoC architecture in multicore systems

Hybrid Wireless Network-on-Chip (WNoC) architecture is emerged as a scalable communication structure to mitigate the deficits of traditional NOC architecture for the future Multi-core systems. The hybrid WNoC architecture provides energy efficient, high data rate and flexible communications for NoC architectures. In these architectures, each wireless router is shared by a set of processing core...

Efficient parallelization of the genetic algorithm solution of traveling salesman problem on multi-core and many-core systems

Efficient parallelization of genetic algorithms (GAs) on state-of-the-art multi-threading or many-threading platforms is a challenge due to the difficulty of schedulation of hardware resources regarding the concurrency of threads. In this paper, for resolving the problem, a novel method is proposed, which parallelizes the GA by designing three concurrent kernels, each of which running some depe...

Future study of Description System Architecture Approaches with Emphasis on Strategic Management

Systems Architecture is a generic discipline to handle objects (existing or to be created) called systems, in a way that supports reasoning about the structural properties of these objects. Systems Architecture is a response to the conceptual and practical difficulties of the description and the design of complex systems. Systems Architecture is a generic discipline to handle objects (existin...

A Context-aware Architecture for Mental Model Sharing through Semantic Movement in Intelligent Agents

Recent studies in multi-agent systems are paying increasingly more attention to the paradigm of designing intelligent agents with human inspired concepts. One of the main cognitive concepts driving the core of many recent approaches in multi agent systems is shared mental models. In this paper, we propose an architecture for sharing mental models based on a new concept called semantic movement....

Ultra-Low-Energy DSP Processor Design for Many-Core Parallel Applications

Background and Objectives: Digital signal processors are widely used in energy constrained applications in which battery lifetime is a critical concern. Accordingly, designing ultra-low-energy processors is a major concern. In this work and in the first step, we propose a sub-threshold DSP processor. Methods: As our baseline architecture, we use a modified version of an existing ultra-low-power...
